Just recently, our men had the privilege of hearing from a faithful follower of Christ. As I considered the impact his ministry had on us that morning, one truth among many stood out. He was a man who has walked with God for many years. Unfortunately that value is not always seen or appreciated because of our penchant for younger people.

We are impressed with young men who can preach. We are impressed with young people who are brilliant. But it is not often that we are impressed with and grateful for older men and women of the faith. I want you to know that I am grateful for mature godly men and women.… Continue reading

My Tribute (4)From the age of 8, music became an integral and personal part of my life. I remember it vividly; dad and mom came to me and said: “Son we have made a very significant investment. Your mother and I sacrificed to purchase an acoustic guitar for you and your brother.” What was my response? I was blown away! A guitar to a little lad, knowing we did not have a lot of money. Wow! Research reveals those who make resolutions are most likely to default on them; not seeing them to fruition.… Continue reading

The creator of time changed the course of time and history when He came; affirming with obvious proofs He was and is the Creator, and Lord over all things. His birth was no ordinary one; He was conceived of the Holy Spirit––born of the Virgin Mary.

Just considering those realities sets the birth of Christ on a bar no other human will ever attain. That makes His birth an extraordinary one and worthy of consideration.… Continue reading

Solomon’s Seasonal Sagacity

Wow! Is this the most wonderful time of the year or what?

Ah, maybe the most intense time of the year; better yet the most maddening time of the year.

I am not here to dampen your jolly Christmas cheer but to broaden it. So I hope you will not hit the infamous “escape” button on your electronic device before reasoning with me for a moment.

I do not believe there is a more intense time of the year than the Christmas season. As we were on our way to church one Sunday evening, the local mall parking was filled with holiday shoppers (hmm, no wonder the fellowship was low in number that evening).… Continue reading
