Seymour is a graduate of The Master's Seminary and the Grace Advance Academy. He began serving as the pastor-teacher of Grace Community Church of Long Beach, CA in January, 2014. He has been married to his wife, Valencia, for over 17 years. The Lord has given them three wonderful children.

Just recently, our men had the privilege of hearing from a faithful follower of Christ. As I considered the impact his ministry had on us that morning, one truth among many stood out. He was a man who has walked with God for many years. Unfortunately that value is not always seen or appreciated because of our penchant for younger people.

From the age of 8, music became an integral and personal part of my life. I remember it vividly; dad and mom came to me and said: “Son we have made a very significant investment. Your mother and I sacrificed to purchase an acoustic guitar for you and your brother.” What was my response? I was blown away! A guitar to a little lad, knowing we did not have a lot of money. Wow! My gratitude was deep and sincere.

Of course I did find out later they purchased it from Fingerhut (not exactly a top 50 store for musicians).

While the future is not a guarantee, many of you are most likely making preparations for the upcoming year. Maybe you are gearing yourself for a year of fitness. For the 18^th year in a row, your goal is to exercise and get in shape. Or you look forward to starting the year with consistency in something you deem is important.

On a broad scale, New Years resolutions are as frequent as the common cold. But getting over those resolutions tends to happen at a more rapid pace than recovering from acute rhinitis. Among many things, Christmas affords us the opportunity to focus on the birth of Christ. His entrance into time as a man was no ordinary one. The creator of time changed the course of time and history when He came; affirming with obvious proofs He was and is the Creator, and Lord over all things. His birth was no ordinary one; He was conceived of the Holy Spirit––born of the Virgin Mary.

Wow! Is this the most wonderful time of the year or what?

Ah, maybe the most intense time of the year; better yet the most maddening time of the year.

I am not here to dampen your jolly Christmas cheer but to broaden it. So I hope you will not hit the infamous “escape” button on your electronic device before reasoning with me for a moment.
