Church ElderI had occasion recently to reflect back on a time when I was a fairly new Christian and a new member of a local church; a church in which there was much discussion concerning becoming or submitting to becoming an “elder-led” church. At the time I wasn’t really sure what everyone was on about, as I didn’t even know what an elder was, so I asked a few questions and learned a great deal about leadership in the local church. Do You Like Snow?

Dead Church “Do you like snow?” There was not a single other question as the pastoral candidate stood before the congregation. In just a few moments, they would vote to have him as their pastor. True story. I only wish that was a reflection of the health of that church, but I fear that this only is a reflection of the of the American church as a whole. It is a reflection of doctrinal indifference, juvenile complacency, and a lack of concern for a biblically qualified shepherd.
